If I was in your shoes, I'd start by measuring the fork/stem/headset to definitively identify it. If the stem's quill -- the part that inserts into the fork -- is 22.2 mm, you've got a 1" fork. If it's 25.4 mm, you've got a 1 1/8" fork.

If you've got a 1" threaded setup, sourcing a replacement threaded fork probably won't be too difficult.

If you've got a 1 1/8" threaded setup, it may be easier and cheaper to convert to threadless than to find a replacement threaded fork.
I just posted measurements and photos over on the C&V thread with the same title as this one - see .../20029192-post13.html.

Looks like I've got a 1-1/8" fork with a 5.5" steerer tube. The uncompressed a-c is 378mm. How tough will it be to find something that matches, or maybe even with a taller a-c? Recommendations?
