There's a difference between just running Strava because that's what you have and riding your normal rides and enjoying yourself. Vs purposely going out on lame "climbing" routes in order to rack up big elevation gain and taking pride in it, when you know in fact that its BS. And only wanting out-of-town friends because they don't know any better!
And I mostly use it because it has the quickest interface. I'd use it even without the social aspects. Like once a month I go and give some kudos to others. It's nice to get them on major workouts, but I don't understand the people who give me kudos for a 2-miler out of the pool at 8:30 pace. There's like maybe one workout per week I'm actually proud of and want to brag on; the others are the unglamorous trenchwork getting there.
