My wife and I gave each other a
budget-friendly stationary bike for C-mas. After a few spins, I think it's going to be perfect for Texas "winters" (can't really justify spending a whole lot, when I know there will be plenty of days we can get out and ride). What I'm looking for are ideas to help alleviate boredom and maybe up the comfort level a bit.
What we've got so far:
1. Replaced the stock saddle with one of our older road bike saddles.
2. A fan blowing up on the rider.
3. An HDTV on the wall opposite the bike.
4. A speed sensor (though it's proving to be more of a novelty than providing useful information).
A few extra questions:
1. It looks like Zwift requires some things (power meter/particular trainer) that we're not going to invest in. Does this mean Zwift is more or less out?
2. Does Peloton "need" the ability to easily change the resistance on the bike to simulate different levels of difficulty? (Ours can do this, but it's very rudimentary)
3. If not Zwift or Peloton, what? Just whatever is interesting enough to stave off boredom (Netflix shows, old TdF videos, etc).
I'm pretty much open to any suggestions that don't entail spending much money (unless it can somehow be used for "real" riding).
