The OP bike has soul but should do whatever pleases and not others. Yes, its special in the sense of us C&V enthusiast but not of extraordinary monetary value like a historic auto or rare antique furniture. (btw: Serious car collectors are paying millions for untouched, dirty corroded original special interest auto's.)
If it was painted but not taking care the corrosion on the chrome would deter me.
On the other hand, I acquired this silver
Witcomb with a similar dillema. I chose to leave all original and very happy. I can ride it without worrying about getting that first scratch or unplanned paint chip after a new refinish. Regardless of monetary value it seems to tell its own story and think it has character.
