I did it for the first time last year. I did it fixed at 48x18. The worst part about riding fixed was the few middle days where it was mostly flat and I never had a chance to stand up. I had quite a few fast geared riders pass me and tell me how crazy I was. The best one was a dreddy hippie on a cruiser that exclaimed, "you're ****in' craaaaaaazy maaaaaaan"
I was really worried about riding fixed prior to the ride. After the first day I knew it was going to be just fine. This helped me relax and make an attempt to enjoy the awful beer since AB, Coors, and Miller is pretty much all you find.
The worst part was being a vegetarian in the land of pork. I ate a lot of pizza and pancakes.
I'm one of those KC guys, crushkilldestroy, I wonder if we know each other.
