I have an older version, and it is sealed tight - maybe not waterproof, but certainly appears rain and splash proof. I don't have any problem with it in rain.
I cannot address your question for the newer version, but from the looks I would estimate it is similarly rain and splash proof, and it one applied silicone or similar on the seam, it would likely be waterproof.
