We liked our XC with a little East-Coast trials thrown in. If you hit something that hard, it usually meant that you weren't on the path anymore. If you were lucky, you weren't on the bike anymore, either.

My AT-1 made it 15 years, until I clipped a curb with the wheel on the kids' trailer, and I crossed up and dumped it in the street. Split the bar all the way up to the brake lever clamp.
