Instead of roads, why don't you seek out Rails-to-Trails. Defunct railroad routes where ther tracks have been removed and converted to bike paths. There are many hundreds of them all over the US. Many of them are very scenic, well groomed and maintained. Some have restrooms, water, and pic-nic tables along the way.
No cars.
I live right by one that is 76 miles long. Billiard table smooth, WIDE, and runs along a river and a lake.
I know there is a HUGE network in the Miami Valley of Ohio, with hundreds of miles.
Just do a google search for Rails-to-Trails in what ever state or area you want to visit, and you'll get plenty of hits.
This is the Trail of the Coeur 'd Alenes in the Idaho Panhandle. 76 miles of this, or better.

Man, that sure looks like fun! If I'm ever out that way...
