something i've noticed... i watch the CL bike parts for sale section frequently... there is an inordinate amount of used Hydraulic disc brake sets for sale... i asked one seller WHY he was selling his high end brakes... he told me that they are too much hassle to bleed and maintain, so he just replaces them at pre-determined intervals... he's wealthy and races MTB's... two other sellers said similar things... they just don't like the hassles of standard maintenance on hyd. brakes... a good cable/housing set, and some high end cable brakes will work almost as well... and if you're not racing, the slight performance increase is not warranted.

try them if you like, but chances are your expensive brake set will wind up on CL at some future point...

or slap on some BB7's and ride to a restaurant for dinner, paid for by your savings... knowing you can maintain your cable disc brakes with a single 5mm allen wrench.
