Not so much the snow on the ground, as the salt on the roads. The last bike that I rode through Cleveland winters rusted out - the frame actually rusted though and broke - when it was only three years old. I thoroughly detail-cleaned it, lubed it, and poured 90w oil through the frame to coat it at least once each Winter, and yet it still rusted out. No way to hose it off after every ride.
