Make it smooth , seams pull tight as the spoke tensions compress the rim

clueless as to what happens with the brakes since I cannot see anything in the room in front of me..

I have had no problems with my seamed Mavic rim wheels I built 30 years ago..

maybe your speed is a problem, brakes poorly adjusted, old pads , worrying is always a choice.
