That Fuji looks like a great bike to start racing on. I would buy it and start training/racing on it. 50x11 is a plenty high gear to win any Cat 5 sprint.
Save your money for contact points (saddle/pedals/bartape), suppler tires come springtime, and consumables like chains/cassettes/brake pads/tires/tubes/etc. And race fees.
