Here's another idea that could look pretty badass.

Say we're making a 32-spoke wheel, so 16 per side, with 8 pulling and 8 pushing spokes per side. Make all of the pushing spokes silver. Make every other pulling spoke black. The other 4 pulling spokes are silver, and evenly spaced around the wheel, on both sides. Arrange it so that the black pulling spokes on both sides are in adjacent locations.

Visually this could sort of make the wheel look like a 4-spoke aero wheel, particularly once it starts moving slowly. The same thing could be done with a 24-spoke wheel, making the appearance of a 3-spoke aero wheel.

I just doctored up a wheel pic in MS Paint to show this last suggestion. I think this would look pretty cool. You could even use a bladed spoke like a CX-Sprint (is a 2.0/1.8 double-butted spoke before the center is flattened) for the black spokes, and conventional 2.0/1.8 double butted for the light spokes, to accentuate the visual impact of the black spokes making the virtual three-spoke pattern.
