I've already discussed this with nlerner, rhm, Andy_K and a few others.
What would be better than riding with hundreds of other vintage bike enthusiasts on Central California coastal roads in April? How about a road trip with a bunch of your best riding buddies?
The plan: out of area riders pack up their Eroica bike and ship it to a FedEx retail store in San Jose, California, then fly in early Friday afternoon to the San Jose airport (SJC). I'd plan on flying in the night before to pick up the RV and collect the bikes, and pick everyone up at the airport. The drive from San Jose to Paso Robles is about 4 hours, we stay at a pre-arranged campsite near the start. Maybe we rent a van as well for local transport to dinner and other events. Drive back after the ride on Monday morning, pack and ship the bikes back, and fly home. Local Bay Area Eroica riders are invited as well with simpler logistics.
Plane flights round trip from back east are looking pretty cheap right now!
Who's in?
Special thanks to Neal Lerner for planting the seed.
