Firstly, puncture protection tyres are worth their price x10. When towing the kiddy trailer, in two years i got several punctures - all on the trailer. The tow bike was on Schwalbe Fat Franks which have Kevlar puncture protection, the trailer had Kendas, which didn't.
I've also had punctures on my shoppers (Raleigh, Mitchelin, and Cheng Chung or something), and Merlin when on Tioga City Slickers. But the last two e-bikes have also been on the Schwalbe Fat Franks, and never got a puncture, despite being daily commuters. They are astonishing, and i've just bought all-brown ones for my latest e-bike (i've done over 30 miles a day since i put it on the road three weeks ago).
I did once have a puncture on the Fat Franks. But it was caused by the tyre! A splint of the metal gauze protruding through the inner skin. Manufacturing fault.
Why do i get so many punctures on other tyres? We don't cycle on the roads here, and it's bush town. The separate cycleway system is very foresty, and strewn with everything vegetation can throw at it. It's all thorns and wet leaves, but otherwise tarmac. Smooth puncture-proof Schwalbes have literally ended the world of puncture repair for me.
It's just a shame they wear out so quick...
