According to these source, just a single X3 is visible from more than a mile distance. Doen't supreise, since a single X3 already has more lumen than two Hotshot Pro 80 USB together. Also one X3 is $30 less expensive than competitve 2x Hotshot Pro 80 for $80 together.

The Spacer X allows to use the longtime common cateye rear light mount, which is very flexible.

How do you define better?
Cateye Rapid X3 steady mode is adjustable in 4 steps, each side has its own mode/brightness control.
So combination of steady + flash/rapid/pules/vibration mode is possible.
