I sinned financially in effect of this thread and checked the availability of replacement hoses for Lezyne Micro Floor pumps. I bought a replacement hose with a digital gauge for more than the cost of the original non-digital pump. Yes, by adding a bit more I could have bought a new digital pump, but I have no room for another portable pump - I already gave Morph away as a gift.

The digital gauge is good . It passed accuracy test to better than 1psi against my standard digital Beto gauge, and it passed a freezer test. The gauge conveniently rotates around the hose, so you can read it no matter what the orientation of the hose.

I still need to loosen the threads and joints a bit on the new hose for coherent operation. On the occasion I made a clamp-on padding for the handle out of a spare washing-machine hose. All is good. Now I need to look into some fasting though.
