Thanks for the help everyone. Today I was working on chainwheels on a 1981 Fuji Royale. I soaked them in dish soap and water for a bit and then use a scouring pad with a lot of pressure to get the grease off. I also used a small brass brush (maybe I shouldn't have) around the teeth because I just could not get the caked on debris off with a pad. They are super clean looking now, but definitely full of scratches and I'm starting to wonder if they were all there before I took the brass brush to it. I'm assuming yes but I'll never know. Oh well.
Is there a way for me to find out of these chainwheels are anodized? I have Blue Magic metal polish that I was going to use on them. After that I was going to wax them but not sure what kind to use.
Tomorrow I'd like to get to the handlebars and stem as well as the chrome socks on the forks. What are the recommendations here for polish and wax?
