Remember that Specialized was having a hard time keeping up with demand- so if the ran out of the Saturne rims or whatever, they substituted what they could. They look to be decent eyeleted rims. BTW- the crank doesn't look to be "spec" either, but I think you came out ahead.
Mine is an 84- it came to me with a replaced rear wheel and rear derailleur- my guess is the Mountech did it's thing and seized up and threw itself into the spokes. Necessitating a new wheel and derailleur. Fortunately, the owner used an M735 Deore XT unit and an LX/Weinmann wheel.
