Same here, almost. The big "outlet" store generally has five or six really low end beaters, similar to the Clubman I posted above but in rougher condition. In fact, when I bought the Clubman it had a Goodwill price tag on the handlebars -- $30, but the seller assured me he didn't pay $30 for it. I occasionally see bikes like this there for $10 or $15. I'd consider buying them just for the Weinmann center-pull brakes but then I'd have to find a responsible way to dispose of the rest of the bike and that's just more effort than I want to make.
I suppose it varies store by store. A couple of years ago my wife and a friend were in a town about 45 miles away looking for old woolen clothing they could take apart for knitting projects. She called and said that they had found 2 Peugeot bikes priced at $15 each.
I told her to buy both of them, and her friend negotiated the deal down to $15 for both. They were P-8's in great ready to ride condition. I donated the man's bike to the shelter, and gave the mixte to a friend in Richmond, VA for favors he had done in the past.
