I got a set of studded tires this winter and was shocked at how slow they are. Then this morning...I jacked the pressure on the 45mm tires up to 70 psi, and they actually roll ok. Not good. Actually still pretty darn slow. But decent enough that I didn't curse myself for taking the bike when it ended up being probably just fine for normal slicks.
It is the bad roll and particularly cornering that annoys me. Studded sort of “walk” sideways when cornering in dry asfalt.
When spring comes, you’ll see how awesome it is changing back to slicks 😀
