But alas, I have things to do and getting out for a ride isn't on the list.

Bummer.

I'm not sure what LA was like 5, 10 or 15 years ago, but since I've moved here, I like it. I've heard lots of people trash LA -- mostly people, who IMO, are jealous and somehow not able to leave their cold weather climates due to job, family, etc or New Yorkers or Bostonians w/ a east coast vs. west coast mentality. And until a decent job offer and the NEED to skip winter for at least a few years, LA was never even on my radar.

Maybe it's my low expectations of LA and SoCal, but overall I'm pretty happy (w/ the exception of real estate prices) and I'm rarely missing New England or the east coast. Maybe it's the weather, but things (especially people) are so less rude and abrasive, which makes things better all around.

I'll have my busted Lemond back in a few weeks and will be gladly riding the hills, valleys and coast of LA and SoCal in the middle of "winter".
