I think a threaded fork is going to make a poor threadless fork, per the OP.


There aren't a tremendous number of 1" threadless forks that are going to look a lot slimmer than the Axis Pro. You might find some take off OEMs, otherwise I'd look for a Columbus Minimal or Ritchey Comp. Serotta forks were also more slim, but rare. Most other 1" forks are going to be fat looking or odd, like Alpha Q or Wound Up.


I have an Axis Pro on my Extralight, but I guess I would buy a Minimal if one came along for a good price.



Another avenue is, if you have a smaller frame, is to find a Kestrel or Look threaded fork from a huge frame where you could cut off that threaded section and have a useful steerer left over. I've done that, but I ride a 51.
