+1. I agree w/this statement. Mountain bikers sometimes project an image of needing to crash a lot, and doing so is unhelpful because newcomers to the sport might actually believe that crashing is a good thing. The OP is riding on ice, and I would suggest studded tires, easy cornering at low speeds, and braking only in straight lines.
