Look for cracks in the rim around the spoke holes. I had a similar problem and the sound got worse when the front wheel was loaded, as in when I was standing on a climb. There were cracks around several holes in the spoke bed of the rim on an early Stans 340 rim(the new ones have a thicker spoke bed).
