As for the hi-ten '77 Takara, I hope your experience is better than mine was.
I expect it to have the integrity of a career politician; it's a 64cm Hi-Ten frame...but its straight and has pretty lugs.
I'm not spending a ton of money--it's all eBay/Amazon "specials" or bike shop parts bin stuff. I am spending a fair bit of time on the prep and paint and am very pleased so far as to how it looks. I'm really using this as a learning project as I have never done much more than adjust brakes or chage tires.
