One of the all asphalt greenways I ride has been known to flood with excessive rainfall, but it really has to be a lot of water coming down in a very short time.
So I go out to the greenway thinking the worse possible scenario will be a few wet spots on the trail. Sure enough, a few here and there where there's shade, but no big deal. After riding for a while, getting a feel for the conditions, I start to increase my pace. Over the second bridge, down into an "S" turn. To the left and no problem. Back to right and ...BAM! Nuthin' but a sea of dark, slick mud! No time to even react and slow down, right in it. I kid you not, I got forty-seven kinds of squirrelly! Legs and arms all over the place moving at warp speed! After what seemed like an eternity of seeing nothing but "slicker than owl crap" shiny black goop, I finally made it out the other side to dry brown, then gray asphalt. Whew! How in the world I didn't find myself flat of my back, covered with mud, crud and blood ...I'll never know. After a few moments of catching my breath and waiting for my legs to stop trembling, I carried on ...ever so cautiously.
Some days you're the windshield, some days the bug. I got lucky on this day.
Could you please reenact that in a video....
