Here's another great review site:

Beware of camera's that are too small - the controls are hard to use if they all fit under one finger....

I used to use a Nikon CoolPiz 2100. It was ok, and fit well in my jersey pocket. It's long gone, and I just did the same dance you're doing - looking for a suitable replacement. My buddy has a 4mp Canon A-520, and he loves it. The one problem I noticed with these cameras is that after riding a while, they come out of the pocket covered in moisture/condensation. That, and the lens protection shutter blades tend to stick half open after regular use. This is annoying as you won't notice it until you look at the photo and see the black masking that is the result. So I started looking for a water proof/resistant model that didn't have plastic "wiper" blades over the lens.

After lenghty consideration, I went for the Olympus Stylus 600. Water resistant, metal casing, huge BRIGHT LCD, 6mp, and about the size of a cigarette pack. 3x optical zoom and ultra macro. And the lens cover is a hard disk that retracts.

I don't have it in my hands yet - it is enroute from the vendor. Paid $239 shipped.
