one of the reasons i use real fruit when touring, pears, apples, oranges and occasionally bananas is so i can discretely discard them where they will biodegrade. i would never drop packaging anywhere but the core of a piece of fruit does no real harm in the weeds on the roadside in my personal opinion. just as i wouldnt mind one being dropped in my yard. dogpoop is another thing entirely....
