That's a month (or less) of cycling for many of us (not me now, but BITD it was). If it's not a wear component (chain, cassette, or tires) I generally expect a few years of heavy usage before a part needs replacing. 500 hours is like a year of heavy usage and,
if true, is a very short lifespan for that cartridge.
