The ST Pro Compe FW was the go-to choice for replacement "back when" as it was inexpensive, durable/reliable, had a full cog board to replace individual cogs or build a "custom" FW and was easy to remove w/o damage.
...unlike the Regina Oro, which (if my experience with my 1972 P15 Paramount is any guide) bike shops quickly and easily destroyed by stripping out the slots trying to remove it.
