Looking at your headbadge, I am not so sure how this is going to work, as the W is open at the top and bleeds into the margin. Where will the paint end? It’s a much simpler proposition when you have a discrete stamped area with a complete border.
Maybe paint the "W" and the other border the same color. That way, there is no issue about where the color on the "W" ends. And it makes the head badge stand out more against the frame.
