First time your chain drops or you get a rear tire flat, and you can just handle the chain with bare hands, you'll see the advantage. Especially if you're in a hurry. Like tonight, en route to a group ride.
But I don't ride the road bike in heavy rain, so wax suits me. Might be different if I commuted in wet weather.
