The threads on the 7400 freehub body are coarse. When using the correct splined Shimano tool to install it on the hub, it spins on completely in like 2 turns. Any grease on the threads would make it feel like the freehub body could be tightened more which potentially could crack the aluminum hub shell. This was my takeaway when I converted my 8 speed Uniglide 7402 freehub to the combi 8/9/10 speed 7403 freehub.
Fascinating! Was your takeaway the result of cracking the freehub?

I see that the threads on the mounting bolt are, indeed, coarse, but I'm still surprised at Shimano's instructions to not lube the threads.
