I would like to extend some sections of Jagwire compressionless brake housing by using Shimano joining ferrules like
these.
I know that Jagwire specifies using special end caps for their housing, presumably to ensure that the parallel wires have a flat surface to rest on and also to keep the housing end from spreading apart under load. Does anyone know if these Shimano ferrules will support the housing properly? I've fitted them on the bike and the the fit seems reasonably snug and the brakes seem to work okay on the workstand, but I don't know what will happen over time. Jagwire also makes
joining ferrules for a variety of housing diameters but I couldn't find any information on whether they're approved for compressionless either.
The reason I want to do this is so I can move some control levers -- with handlebars, brake/shift housing, and bar tape still attached -- from a rim brake frame to a disc frame that needs full housing runs, so I need to extend the housing. The tape and housing are fairly new so I'd prefer to avoid unwrapping the bars if possible.
