Not only am I a failure at de-cluttering, any review of my bike assortment triggers more than a little upgrade-mania.
This month alone;
I removed the 3x10 Shimano 105/Ultegra drivetrain, shifters & derailleurs from my Carbon road bike and install everything on an 1987ish Trek 400. The Trek becomes my new trainer bike and is installed on the Tacx Flux trainer and set before a bigscreen tv.
The carbon road bike gets a new 2x11 Ultegra/105 drivetrain.
The Campagnolo 3x10 Chorus drivetrain gets removed from the Pinarello Gavia. Infact the whole frame is completely stripped in preparation for new decals and a clearcoat. I might install a 2x10 Veloce groupo in the future or just hang it as wall art.
The Campagnolo 3x10 Chorus drivetrain will become a 2x10 drivetrain with a Campagnolo carbon compact crankset. This will be installed on the Simoncini Cyclocross Special at the end of the month.
The Eddy Merckx will get a modern Ultegra 6800 compact crankset, 2x11 Ultegra 6800 shifters, a new rear wheel to match the front built with a grey anodized H plus Son TB14 rim and rear 11-speed silver Shimano 105 hub.
The Serotta Nova Special X will be stripped and the paint will be expertly detailed. I might re-install the shimano 2x10 drivetrain in the future or just hang it as wall art.
The Motobecane Grand Record gets a triple crankset and appropriate touring derailleurs. The Raleigh Roker gravel bike gets a new wheelset.
The De Rosa Professional, Schwinn Paramount and the Peugeot PX10 get Vittoria Corsa tanwall tires.
I'll give away the Origin8 Mostercross bike to a riding buddy who might enjoy some gravel rides. Some miscellaneous bike component clutter is given to a local friend who can use it for repairs.
At least I'll be able to move with only 10 complete bikes, two preserved framesets, 7 surplus wheelsets, 8 surplus cranksets, and a collection of components.
