I could draw a circle with a 30 mile radius from my workplace, and it wouldn't include 3000 people. It's an hour drive to a grocery store. I could shorten that to 20 miles and it probably wouldn't include 1200. Triple that in tourist season, though.

The commute is 3 miles on a lovely, lightly trafficked lakeside road through old growth rainforest though.
