I just use "stay" and "strut" interchangeably for the thing going to the seat stay and going to the dropout, but use "leg" to go to the dropout only.

Wikipedia says "tie" is the opposite of "strut" so I guess it's sort of applicable here...
When in doubt, go with "dingus". There's a spanish translation for that, I'm pretty sure the built in sensor wouldn't catch it, but some might be offended...
