The resurrection
Who am I, some ham-fisted home mechanic, to think I can improve on the workmanship on a fine bicycle? Well, exactly nobody... but I have my delusions. I filed down the ugly bulge on the underside of the bottom bracket after making sure the steel there was plenty thick. I also thinned the clunky tangs on the inside of the forks. Here you can see the original-thickness tang on the right and the thinned one on the left. I don't think I went overboard, just enough to better match the elegance of the rest of the bike.
I was also bothered by a small drip of brass on the downtube.
A few minutes with a sharp file cleaned it right up.
You could accuse me of taking away the bike's originality and I wouldn't argue with you. A PX10 is a very nice bike, even an iconic bike of the 60s and early 70s. If there were only a few of them left I might not be so cavalier with the files. But there are still a good number of them left, in original condition, and impeccably restored so I took some liberties.
