You are not going to have to charge a modern cycling computer after every ride unless you are riding >10 hours each ride. Many of us who do longer rides don't have a problem with charging our devices. I have an Anker charging station which makes things very simple and my lights and GPS go on it when I finish my ride. It could not be easier. Like it or not, that is the the way the world is going.
Perhaps you should look into a wired computer from Cateye or something similar. The title of the thread is not getting you many hits because people think this is a Polar specific discussion and I suggest searching the forums. There are lots of threads asking just what you ask, for a simple computer which does speed, cadence and heart rate. There are lots of them still available.
