I didn't even think about that. I'd still get a finer adjustment with a modern seatpost though, yes? There are 36 detents on the clamp, for 10° of adjustment each. That seems pretty coarse. A new one would set me back around $15 shipped, or less. I don't know how fine the adjustment would be but certainly better than 10°.
