I hit a dog that ran rapidly down a hill and right into my path. I was trying to outrun him and so I was moving pretty fast and I must have slid 30' on the left side of my body when I went down. The owner came out and offered to shoot the dog. I suggested he get the dog a leash instead. Talk to the dogs' owners asap and get them restrained somehow before you have a crash.
My commute tonight was far less adventurous with, fortunately, no pursuit by wild (or domestic) animals. It was about 23F (-5C) and quite icey but I'm loving my Nokias and they got me home just fine.
I've got to rebuild my rear wheel it's finally giving it up- broke yet another of the black anodized spokes that don't seem to respond well to the combination of really cold weather and the icey ruts plus I was carrying a heavy load home with me.
