52, 6' tall, 240 pounds.
Keep your bike and make some changes. (I'm assuming you have a large or extra-large frame; if not, sell the bike and get one that fits.)
Put a riser on it on the stem or make sure you have the bar raised up as much as you can. A 3rd alternative is to put an adjustable stem on it, so you can try different heights and reaches.
Change out the grips. I like Ergon Gp2s.
Consider a different saddle - I need one with a significant cutout and just a little padding (the Selle Royal Ellipse works great and is affordable).
Are you using platform pedals? Consider switching to a wider or longer pedal.

Eventually, you will get to the point where you are more comfortable and want a more aggressive riding position. Then it's an easy fix to just remove the rider or adjustable stem and lower your bars.
