There is nothing on the can about clear coating. I looked for just that reason.

I used Rust Oleum 2X for the red. The product reviews of the 2X clear coat are miserably bad, saying it eats the paint off and is completely incompatible with the 2X paint product line.

The clear coat I actually tried myself is also a Rust Oleum product that's supposedly a triple thick coating clear. It dissolved my paint on my test sample so I believe the poor reviews on the 2X product line clear coat.

I think I might just go get the basic run of the mill Rust Oleum clear enamel.

Or I might consider an acrylic enamel by Rust Oleum as that's supposed to be a more durable finish.

Thoughts? Opinions? Expert painters' guidance? I am your clay. Mold me.
I took a quick look at the Rustoleum 2X products. It appears they should be compatible, 2X to 2X. I didn't take the time to see if their other lines are cross compatible, they may not even mention.

Did you follow the recoat window of within 1 hour or after 48 hours?

I would see if they have a consumer contact and see what they say.
