I'm less bothered by the lack of a speaker in the Karoo than I am by the fact I can't turn off the speaker in my Garmin. The Garmin never fails at beeping every time I've stopped, started, sort-of stopped, and most importantly-- right after I've gone past the turn I was supposed to take. Then once off-course, it never shuts up.
