I know people have done it with old Trek's. Generally, if you're not picky about the frame, they'll offer something. But yes, most of your components won't fit.

From the perspective of Cannondale, it's better to occasionally give away a frame than deal with the bad rep for not honoring the warranty. Most bikes will be on their 2nd or 3rd owner, so not many are even eligible.
