I get the point your leading question is asking, but no Taiwan isnt some new hub of counterfeit product.
Its everywhere across Asia and Taiwan is the epicenter of bicycle components, so naturally there will be a good bit of knockoffs there.

It would happen any place thats an epicenter of manufacturing though.
