Hi all,
I have been using a vintage Centurion Dave Scott Ironman bike (silver with Shimano 600 components) for several years for commuting in NYC. (14 mi each way.. usually bike in one day, return the next, etc). The bike is one size too small for me and it's catching up to me. (Hot foot, knee pain, Achilles pain etc). Ready for a proper bike fit
The bike weighs about 23 pounds, I can't seem to find an all steel modern day version that weighs in that range . So far found Kona Roadhouse with carbon fork. Also was directed to a Trek 520 (weighs 27 pounds?) by LBS..
Any suggestions on modern day steel equivalent to my Centurion? Do disc brakes weigh that much more? (Main difference I can see with my '85 bike). Am I being paranoid about avoiding carbon forks?
Thanks!
