Bikes: It's complicated.

Huret Duopar installation question

My Eroica ride is back from the powder coater, building it up and have chosen to go with an all French drivetrain, including a Huret DuoPar Eco.

Yeah, don't try and talk me out of it, we're supposed to suffer on this ride.

At any rate, here's a picture showing the issue.

The bolt is nearly touching the freewheel, and I'm pretty sure it would hit the chain in that gear.

There's a nut that came with it, I think it is for use with a claw, or perhaps to keep the bolt in place for shipping?

If I use the nut, the derailleur stop won't hit the derailleur hanger stop.

What's the solution? Am I doing something wrong? My current thought is to use a spacer on the hanger bolt so it doesn't stick out so much.
