I've been to Monterey a few times in years past and know it's beautiful country, but I can't see going just for the sake of going. Too bad there isn't a supported ride of 17-mile drive. THAT would be an interesting ride for sure.
Opinions?
Thanks.

Take a closer look:
Gran Fondos & Tours - Sea Otter Classic - April 19-22, 2018 - Monterey, California, USA (Powered by SRAM)
The Gran Fondo Coastal ride does most of what you want, and is supported. It is not a race. The 17 mile drive just continues into Carmel. It's a casual ride down Filthy Rich lane. You don't need support.
There are about 500 exhibitors at the Sea Otter. You don't even need to look at a bike race.
